Fans admired her for her screen presence and the way she brought supporting characters to life. Though she never quite became a household name in cinema, her steady work in TV made her a recognisable face in many households.
Subhashini had married Bipin Chandran, a 38-year-old from Bengaluru, in April 2024. The couple had been living together in Bengaluru since then.
She often traveled to Chennai for shooting schedules and had recently rented an apartment in Iyyappanthangal, near Porur, to stay close to the sets.
Subhashini arrived in the city on March 3, ready to continue her work while balancing life as a newlywed.
The news came on Sunday night when Subhashini reportedly ended her own life in her Iyyappanthangal apartment.
Police revealed that she was on a video call with her husband when a domestic dispute escalated.
Witnessing the argument, Bipin Chandran saw Subhashini allegedly hang herself from a ceiling fan in the apartment.
In a panic, her husband immediately contacted the apartment’s security team, who called the Porur police. Officers rushed to the scene, recovered her body, and took it to Poonamallee Government Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Later, the body was shifted to Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The Porur police have officially registered a case and launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. Since the couple’s marriage was less than two years old, authorities have also ordered an inquiry by a Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO).
